David Oliver (born April 24, 1982 ) is an American hurdler who specializes in the 110-meter course .
He had his breakthrough in 2006 when he increased his personal best to 13.29 seconds. The following year he improved his personal record to 13.20 seconds and won the ISTAF in Berlin. On July 16, 2010, it improved to 12.89 s and was only two hundredths of a second behind the two-year-old world record set by Cuba's Olympic champion Dayron Robles. In 2007 he was second indoors and third outdoors at the US championships, but retired from the world championships in Osaka in the semi-finals.
In 2008 he was US indoor champion and won with a personal best of 12.95 s in the national eliminations (Trials) for the Olympic Games in Beijing . There he won the bronze medal with 13.18 seconds behind world record holder Dayron Robles and his compatriot David Payne , from whom he was only a hundredth of a second apart.
David Oliver is 1.88 m tall, weighs 93 kg and lives in Kissimmee . He graduated from Howard University , where he also played football , and graduated with a BBA in marketing in 2004 .
