Gregory ("Greg") Foster (born April 4, 1958 in Chicago ) is a retired American athlete. He was three times world champion in the 110 meter hurdles .

Life

Foster was one of the outstanding 110-meter hurdles of the 1980s. He was the great competitor of Renaldo Nehemiah , Roger Kingdom , Mark McKoy and Colin Jackson . They competed at all major international events for over ten years. While Kingdom was twice Olympic champion in 1984 and 1988, Foster was denied this, he won the silver medal in 1984 and was injured in 1988. However, he dominated especially in athletics world championships and was world champion at the world championships in 1983 , 1987 and 1991 . In 1990 Foster found pseudoephedrine , ephedrine and phenylpropanolamine during a doping test , after which he was banned for three months.

In 1987 Foster improved the indoor world record over 60 meter hurdles to 7.36 s, which means he is still third on the all-time list of the best. In 1985 Foster broke the indoor world record over 50 meter hurdles in 6.35 s, before Mark McKoy replaced him as world record holder the following year. He set Foster's best time over 110 meter hurdles in 1981 at the Athletics Sports Festival in Zurich, when he improved to 13.03 s in a memorable race in the wake of the world record running Nehemiah. This performance was the second best time in the world at the time and is now ranked 17th on the all-time outdoor top list.

With a height of 1.90 m, his weight was 85 kg when he was active. Greg Foster was dating Florence Griffith-Joyner in the early 1980s .
