Roger Kingdom
Roger Kingdom (born August 26, 1962 in Vienna , Georgia ) is a former American track and field athlete. He was twice Olympic champion.
Kingdom was one of the strongest 110 meter hurdles in the 1980s and 1990s. In his long world-class career, he won two Olympic gold medals in 1984 in Los Angeles and in 1988 in Seoul . In 1989 he became indoor world champion over 60 meter hurdles in Budapest . At the Grand Prix meeting in Zurich he set a world record of 12.92 s, which Colin Jackson improved to 12.91 s in 1993 at the World Championships in Stuttgart . At the end of the season, Kingdom was named World Athlete of the Year 1989. In 1992 he could not qualify for the Olympic Games. Three years later, however, he won a medal for the first time at the outdoor world championships , bronze at the 1995 world championships in Gothenburg .
With a height of 1.85 m, Kingdoms competition weight was 91 kg.
