Fred School
Fred Schule ( Frederick William Schule ; born September 27, 1879 in Fairfield , Ohio , † September 14, 1962 in New York ) was an American hurdler and Olympic champion .
School graduated from the University of Michigan . In 1903 he won his first AAU championship title over 120 yard hurdles . Despite of this title was at school 110-meter hurdles of the Olympic Games in 1904 in St. Louis not as favorite. One of his fiercest opponents Edwin Clapp , two-time IC4A champion over 120 yard hurdles in 1903 and 1904 , did not appear for the preliminaries.
School won its run with no trouble. In the final he was able to keep Thaddeus Schideler , who had run an unofficial world record over this distance in 15.0 seconds a month before the Olympic final, at a distance and in the end won the race with a two-yard lead.
Fred Schule died in New York at the age of 82.
