from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A forest farmer is someone who owns the forest and manages it himself. Forest farmers are self-employed .

Often people who live mainly from forestry are also referred to as forest farmers.

tasks

The tasks of the forest farmer are very similar to those of the forest manager ; however, the forest farmer owns the land that he cultivates. The forest farmer has to decide which tree will be felled when and which young trees will be planted where. In his work he must strive on the one hand to earn enough money and on the other hand to keep the forest in good condition for posterity . He has to protect the forest from harmful influences such as bark beetle infestation.

Other tasks include bookkeeping , office work, road construction, buying and maintaining work equipment such as tractors or chainsaws, and clearing snow in winter. Some forest farmers also have to take care of other areas of activity such as tourism , hunting or cattle breeding .

This can be seen in Germany by a government training to forestry with a visit to a forest work school or studying at a technical college or a four Forest Departments of the Universities of Göttingen , Freiburg , Munich / Weihenstephan or Dresden / Tharandt purchase.
