David Plantier

David Plantier is a Swiss violinist and conductor who is active in the field of historical performance practice .

Life

David Plantier began playing the violin at the age of five. He began the studies of classical violin at the Conservatory of Geneva , after a year he moved to the class for baroque violin by Odile Edouard . After successfully completing his studies, he moved to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in the class of Chiara Banchini to expand his knowledge . During his studies in Basel he discovered his passion for musicological research.

Since the end of his studies he has worked as a concertmaster or soloist with ensembles such as “ Hespèrion XXI ”, “Le Concert des Nations” by Jordi Savall , the “Ensemble 415” by Chiara Banchini, “Le Parlement de Musique”, “La Risonanza” “Or the Ensemble Café Zimmermann . He made numerous recordings with Café Zimmermann in particular. Plantier is currently concertmaster in Emmanuelle Haïm 's Concert d'Astrée.

Plantier teaches the baroque violin at the Schola Cantorum, he plays an anonymous Tyrolean violin from the middle of the 18th century and a 1766 attributed to Giovanni Battista Guadagnini. In 2004 he founded his ensemble "Les Plaisirs du Parnasse", with which he played several of made excellent recordings in the international trade press. From 2002 to 2008 he was conductor of the La Cetra Barockorchester Basel .
