Francesco Venturini (* around 1675 ; † April 18, 1745 in Hanover ) was a violinist and composer .

Life

Francesco Venturini became a violinist in the electoral orchestra in Hanover in 1698, where he had married the previous year. Nothing is known about the time before, especially about its origin. It is not clear whether he comes from Italy - as could be deduced from his name; some evidence suggests that he came from what is now Belgium, he gave his sons the nickname "Bruxellensis" in the baptismal register . Presumably he was a student of his predecessor Jean-Baptiste Farinel (1655-1726) from France . He was promoted to court conductor in Hanover in 1714 and held this position until his death. His sons and (presumably) a grandson were also active as musicians in and around Hanover in the period that followed.

In his time he was a recognized composer and created chamber concerts and other works in which he essentially followed the suite form . His Concerti op. 1 were printed by Estienne Roger in Amsterdam in 1715 , which allows conclusions to be drawn about its importance at the time.
