David Ruehm (born on February 11, 1962 in Vienna as David Rühm ) is an Austrian director and photographer .

Life

He is the son of Gerhard Rühm and the Polish opera singer Adelina Gallert . In 1982 he completed his training as a photographer at the Graphic Arts Institute in Vienna and made Super 8 films from the 1970s to the 1980s . After graduating from school in the mid-1980s, he made his first short films. At the beginning of the 1990s, he was invited to the Cannes Film Festival with his first feature film Die Flucht , after having appeared in Cannes the year before with the short film The Mysterious Lifelines .

Subsequently, other feature films such as Spaghetto and Der Umweg were made , followed by the television film Azzurro in 1996 . After that, Ruehm earned a living as a commercial filmmaker and worked as a photographer again. At the end of 2014 he brought the vampire comedy The Vampire on the Couch to cinemas.
