David Ricardo Williams

David Ricardo Williams (born February 28, 1923 in Kamloops , British Columbia , Canada , † January 29, 1999 in Duncan ) was a Canadian lawyer, historian and writer .

Life

David Ricardo Williams was born in 1923 to a long line of Church of England country ministers. He spent his formative years in Vancouver and studied law at the University of British Columbia in the late 1940s. He was admitted to the British Columbia bar in 1949 and moved to Duncan , where he practiced for many years as a civil and criminal lawyer.

In 1969 he was appointed Queen's Counsel . William was one of the founders of the BC Forest Museum and served as an advisor to the Senate and Governor of British Columbia. He later became an associate professor in the Law School of the University of British Columbia and in 1980 at the University of Victoria .

David Ricardo Williams has published books on the national and legal history of his homeland since 1966 , with most of his works being written in the 1980s and 1990s. Nevertheless, he continued to practice in his profession as a lawyer. As an important member of the Writers Union of Canada, he often gave his association legal advice or countered the sometimes confused, liberal rhetoric from outside.

1985 he was with his work Duff: A Life in the Law of the first winner of the BC Book Prizes belonging Hubert Evans Non-Fiction Prize

Williams died on January 29, 1999.
