David S. Broder

David Salzer Broder (born September 11, 1929 in Chicago Heights , Illinois , †  March 9, 2011 in Arlington , Virginia ) was an American journalist . He wrote for the Washington Post for over 40 years .

Life

For his columns in the Washington Post, Broder received the Pulitzer Prize in the Commentary category in 1972 . Starting with the 1956 presidential election between Dwight D. Eisenhower and Adlai Ewing Stevenson , Broder covered every presidential election in the United States for over 50 years . In 1990 Broder was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
