David Schiller

David Schiller , pseudonym Jan Boger, (* 1952 in West Berlin ) is a German non-fiction author , journalist and consultant on the topics of firearms , security and terrorism .

Life

Schiller was born into a Jewish family and was active in Berlin's Zionist youth. Under the impression of the Six Day War , he decided to emigrate to Israel and become an officer of the paratroopers there. After graduating from high school in 1971 , he emigrated to Israel in the same year, and in the following year he joined the paratrooper brigade. He was badly wounded during the Yom Kippur War . From 1974 to around 1978 Schiller studied political science , journalism and journalism at the Free University of Berlin and graduated with a diploma . In 1982 the doctorate followed . During his studies, he advised the Berlin police on setting up their precision rifle command , which, like in the other federal states, was set up as a forerunner of the later special operations command to combat terrorism . He also dealt scientifically with terrorism . He was a consultant at RAND Corporation and Control Risks . He gave lectures at the Bundeswehr and the GSG9, among others . In 1976 he wrote his first book under the pseudonym Jan Boger, which was followed by numerous. It dealt with shooting in combat . From 1986 to 2006 Schiller was editor-in-chief of Visier magazine , from 2006 to 2012 its publisher .
