David Stone (producer)

David Stone (born August 14, 1966 ) is an American theater producer .

Life

David Stone, a native of New Jersey , studied at the University of Pennsylvania .

Stone came to the theater through an internship at the New York theater production company Jujamcyn. He worked with Broadway producers Fran and Barry Weisler for several years before he achieved a surprise success in 1993 with his first own production, Family Secrets .

Since 2003 he has been producing the successful musical Wicked - Die Hexen von Oz together with Marc Platt for Universal Pictures . With an investment of 14 million US dollars, Wicked had already generated over 250 million US dollars in sales in 2012.

Stone is a member of the Board of Governors of The Broadway League and the Board of Trustees of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights Aids. He has taught at the Juilliard School , New York University , Yale University , Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
