David James Webb (born April 9, 1946 in Stratford ) is a retired English football player and football coach .

Career

Player career

Webb began his career as an amateur player at West Ham United before moving to Leyton Orient in 1963 . He made his debut in the 1964/65 season. In March 1966 after 62 games for Orient, he moved to Southampton FC . Webb played in the right-back position. In 1968 he went to Chelsea . With the Blues he won the English FA Cup in 1970 . A year later, he and his team won the Cup Winners' Cup. In 1974 his job in London ended and he moved to the Queens Park Rangers . After 116 games for the Hoops, he went to Leicester City in 1977 . After a year at Leicester City, he played two years at Derby County , three years at AFC Bournemouth and one year at Torquay United . The last two stations Webb was already player-coach of the respective teams.

Coaching career

The first two stations were Bournemouth FC (1980–1982) and Torquay United (1984–1985) as player-coach. In 1986 he took up his first position as head coach. The former defender has been the coach of Southend United . This station lasted until 1992. After his resignation, he moved to Chelsea for an interlude in 1993. His longest coaching position was from 1993 to 1997 at Brentford FC . After the years in Brentford , he was a short-term coach at Yeovil Town and Southend United. From 2005 to 2006 he was still President of Yeovil Town.
