The Audi Front 225 is a car of the upper middle class with front-wheel drive , which the for Auto Union owned brand Audi as the successor of the model Audi Front UW in February 1935 on the 25th International Automobile and Motorcycle Exhibition presented (IAMA) in Berlin. The 2.3-liter six-cylinder engine of the Audi Front 225 was the same as that of the Wanderer W 245 . As its successor, the Audi 920 came onto the market in 1938 with a new 3.2-liter engine and rear-wheel drive .
The by Ferdinand Porsche 1931 for hikers W 20 constructed above, controlled 2-liter inline engine was 2.3 liter displacement enlarged and developed 50 horsepower at 3500 min -1 (1937: 55 horsepower at 3800 min -1 ). The four-speed gearbox in front of the engine with synchronized 3rd and 4th gear is operated via a gearshift lever on the dashboard. The car with a central box frame has independent wheel suspension with overhead wishbones and transverse leaf springs at the front and swing arms with transverse leaf springs at the rear. It was available as a 4-door sports sedan, 4-door sedan (6 windows), 2-door convertible (2 or 4 windows) or 2-door roadster.
The Audi Front 225 sedans were produced at Auto Union's Horch plant in Zwickau for capacity reasons . The convertibles built glasses in Dresden with the externally supplied from Horch chassis.

Remarks
- ↑ The abbreviation UW was widely interpreted as "inverted Wanderer" because the Wanderer automobiles had rear-wheel drive. The other interpretation, "reversed wanderer engine", resulted from the fact that the front-wheel drive Audi had the transmission in front of the engine, which was therefore installed "reversed" with the clutch at the front. However, both of these do not correspond to the official explanation: "Type U was derived from the Audi alphabet."
