David Wiesner

David Wiesner

David Wiesner (born February 5, 1956 in Bridgewater , New Jersey ) is an American illustrator and writer .

Life

Wiesner graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1978 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. In 1980, Honest Andrew by Gloria Skurzynski was published, the first book he illustrated. Wiesner is one of the two authors who have received the Caldecott Medal three times to date . In 2015 he was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize in the picture book category.

David Wiesner lives with his wife Kim Kahng and their two children in Milwaukee / Wisconsin .
