Davidkirche Flamatt

The Davidkirche Flamatt is the Reformed church in the Freiburg village of Flamatt in Switzerland . Since January 1, 1999, it has been owned by the Wünnewil-Flamatt-Ueberstorf parish, which emerged from the parish of the Sense district and belongs to the Evangelical Reformed Church of the canton of Friborg .

history

The Reformed believers in the Senseunterland were originally cared for by the parishes in Neuenegg and Albligen in Bern and in St. Antoni in Friborg . In 1949 all hamlets and villages in the area became part of the parish of St. Antoni, which was later renamed the parish of the Sense district . In the same year the Reformed members of the Flamatt, Obermettlen, Kessibrunnholz and Fendringen school districts received their first pastor, Willi Berger. The singing hall of the school building in Flamatt served as a meeting point and worship room.

On November 5, 1952, a church building association was founded. In 1960 the location for the church was determined and in 1961 the church building association acquired the land and donated it to the parish. The “DAVID” design by architects Stämpfli and Knapp from Bern emerged as the winner in the project competition and on April 1, 1962, the parish assembly in St. Antoni approved the project. A large village festival in the summer of 1962 and the acceptance of the Reformation collections from 1963 raised important financial resources and the foundation stone was laid on October 27, 1962. On November 7, 1964, the four bells in the tower were raised and on April 4, 1965, the inauguration ceremony took place. The church building, previously known as the Reformed Church of Flamatt , did not get its name until 1986, when Pastor Andreas Zeller's request was granted , who took up the project name “DAVID”. Since then the church has been called "Reformed Davidkirche Flamatt".

Bells

In the tower of the Davidkirche hang four bells that were raised on November 7th, 1964 by the schoolchildren of the parish.
