Davidof Iceland ( aleutian : Qanan-tana ) is an uninhabited island and is one of the Aleutian Islands , specifically the island group of the Rat Islands . The mostly steep and rocky coasts of the island enclose a plateau that rises to 328 m. There is only a sandy beach in the southwest of the island.
Volcanism
Like the small neighboring islands of Lopy and Pyramid, Davidof is the remnant of a caldera rim . The caldera was part of a volcano that was largely destroyed in the Tertiary as a result of an explosive eruption .
