Little Sitkin Iceland ( aleutian : Sitignax ) is a volcanic island of the Aleutian Islands and one of the Rat Islands . Great Sitkin Island , which is only slightly larger than Little Sitkin Island, is located 295 km east at the western end of the Aleutian archipelago. The volcano's caldera, 4.8 km in diameter, reaches a height of about 1200 m. A special feature is a second caldera at about 900 m height on the flank of the mountain.
Fumaroles on the west coast of the island bear witness to the volcanic activity . The last known eruption occurred in 1830.
