List of streets, alleys and squares in Mainz-Mombach .

Reference is the "Directory of districts by streets" of the city of Mainz , see under web links. It also contains explanations of the names and historical names. The renaming is often in connection with the incorporation into Mainz in 1907, so duplication with inner-city streets was eliminated.

  • Acacia path
  • Albert-Knoll-Straße, named after Albert Knoll (1916–1966), a Mombach handball player (formerly Gartenstraße)
  • Old market hall, points to the agricultural history of the place
  • At the Alter Kerbeplatz , the Mombacher Kerb was the new fairground until the early 1980s (the previous fairground was located next to the gym)
  • Am Blauel, an old field name, originated from "bliuwel", Middle High German for wood for knocking ( bleuel ). It was named after a square shape of the property, which was similar to this tool.
  • At the driving reason, old field name
  • At the Fatzerbrünnchen, named after the Fatzerbrunnen, where Bonifatius is said to have stopped before moving to Mainz. Fatz (er) has several meanings, here probably derived from the short form of Bonifatius, "Faz".
  • Am Geifen, old field name
  • Am Hipperich, old field name
  • On the small sand, not the big sand
  • Am Lemmchen, old field name, reference to clay-containing arable soil from the eponymous Gewann
  • Am Mahnes, old field name (formerly Manesstraße)
  • At the Mombacher roundabout, refers to the neighboring traffic structure
  • Am Müllerwald, formerly part of the forest, which either belonged to a miller or to a person with the personal name Müller .
  • At the orchard, points to the agricultural history of the place

  • On Schützenweg , the way to the former shooting ranges at Am Polygon
  • On the black road, old field name
  • Am Schwermer, old field name
  • Am Stollhenn, old field name, reference to an earlier vineyard (originated from "stolle", Middle High German for support, frame, post, larger piece, outstanding part, tip)
  • At Suderbrunnen, water-rich slope (for "Suder": see Suderstraße)
  • At the zoo, old field name, reference to a stately game reserve or a fenced plot of land in which pets were kept.
  • At the forest cemetery , road to the forest cemetery that was newly created in the 1920s
  • At the waterworks , street at the formerly grand ducal waterworks
  • Am Wenzen, old field name, named after a former owner, derived from the personal name Wenz, the short form for Werner or Wenzel.
  • On the dunes , related to the landscape
  • At the well room , below the Suderbrunnen, meaning: an artificially created collecting basin, well house, socket of a well source.
  • At the Hasenquelle, old field name
  • At the Kreuzkapelle, the place in front of the Kreuzkapelle
  • At the plantation , points to the agricultural history of the place
  • On the sloe hedge , old field name
  • At the Wieslücke, old field name, reference to a passage in the field and on the meadow.
  • On the Krahl, old field name
  • On the Langen Lein, old field name, from "lîne", Middle High German for rope, leash, further meaning also rein, line, line. Possible evidence of a former vineyard with long rows of vines.

  • Bernhard-Winter-Straße, named after the founder of the Mombacher Kreuzkapelle; before (at least until the 1950s) Weinbergstrasse
  • Bleach garden, the bleach behind the church
  • Braunwiesstrasse (formerly Engelstrasse)

  • De-la-Roche facility, named after the Mainz canon Heinrich De-la-Roche, the sponsor of the Nikolauskirche
  • Dietzestrasse, named after Ernst Hermann Dietze (* 1837, † after 1899), investor in the early chemical industry
  • Dr.-Falk-Weg, after Dr. Franz Falk (1840-1909). Prelate , Catholic pastor in Mainz-Mombach and Klein-Winternheim, Rheinhessen, diocese archivist and church historian in Mainz, co-founder of the Society for Middle Rhine Church History

  • Feldherrenstrasse (formerly Blücherstrasse )
  • Raft Street, reminiscent of the former raft harbor
  • Trout Route , refers to the fish in the nearby pond (hence earlier Fischweiherstrasse)
  • Franz Vlasdeck facility, named after Franz Vlasdeck (1859–1933), a Mombach sculptor and building contractor
  • Franz-Winkeler-Strasse, commemorates Franz Winkeler (1902–1945), a resistance fighter against the Nazi dictatorship who lived in Mombach

  • Haferackerweg, old field name ("Am Haberacker"), from "habere, haber", Middle High German for oats . The route no longer exists, but is still listed in city directories.
  • Häfnerstraße, named after Franz Xaver Hefner (1806–1850), teacher in Mombach 1825–1850 (hence formerly Lehrer-Häfner-Straße)
  • Hartmühlenweg, in memory of the Hartmühle
  • Hattenbergstrasse (partially), reminiscent of the Hattenmühlen. Mombach and the upper mill Had Been in the 14th century. Man fief of the archbishopric of Mainz
  • Hauptstraße, up to the incorporation to Mainz Kaiserstraße (middle section between Emrichruh- and Scharnhorststraße, otherwise formerly Mainzer and Budenheimer Straße)
  • Heckerstrasse, dedicated to Friedrich Hecker (1811–1881), Baden revolutionary
  • Heimstraße, dedicated to Franz Heim, Mayor of Mombach from 1874–1896 (formerly "Leisberg", Jörgstraße)
  • Heinrich-Freber-Straße, named after Heinrich Friedrich Freber (1869–1936), the last Mombach mayor (1905–1907) and first mayor (until 1934).

  • Käthchen-Frödert-Weg, dedicated to Katharina Frödert (1894–1995), kindergarten teacher and Protestant community nurse in Mombach
  • Karlsstraße, after the former Karlsbrunnen (formerly Friedhofsweg)
  • Kleine Bogenstrasse
  • Kleine Schönbergstraße, old field name, from Middle High German "schœne, schœn", adjective for: beautiful, wonderful, shiny, bright
  • Kleine Weiherstrasse
  • Kleiststrasse, reminds of Heinrich von Kleist (formerly Stationsstrasse, then Goethestrasse )
  • Köppelstraße, general name for hill, old field name "Am Sandköppel"
  • Körnerstraße, named after Theodor Körner (formerly Bahnhofstraße, then Schillerstraße )
  • Kreuzstrasse, ends at the Kreuzkapelle

  • Lengesstraße, commemorates Nikolaus Lenges (1881–1959), lifeguard of the former Mombach swimming club (formerly Weixelgasse)
  • Liebigstrasse, after the chemist Justus von Liebig (formerly Rheinstrasse)
  • Lindengasse, at its beginning was the ancient local linden tree , which had to be felled in 1862 (according to other sources 1873/75)
  • Loni-Simon-Weg, reminds of Loni Simon, b. Apollonia Heim (1898-1989), sponsor

  • Maletenstraße, named after the local name for the apricot
  • Meixlerstrasse, named after Franz Meixler (1822–1910), building contractor in Mombach
  • Mohrgasse, named after the large landowner Jakob Mohr (1820–1903)

  • Nerobergstrasse, with a view of the Neroberg

  • Sand path, reminds of the Great Sand
  • Sauerwiese, old field name, from "sûr, sûwer", Middle High German for sour, tart, spicy, bitter. The name indicates wet, swampy meadow terrain that produced a low-quality bitter grass.
  • Scharnhorststraße, dedicated to Gerhard von Scharnhorst (formerly Emmerichruh-Straße , then Gonsenheimer Straße )
  • Schönbergstraße, old field name, from Middle High German "schœne, schœn", adjective for: beautiful, wonderful, shiny, bright
  • Settlers Street
  • Strunkgasse, old field name, from Middle High German "strunc". Stump = stump, stump, remnant left in the ground, stunted, poorly bearing, stunted tree, vine or bush.
  • Suderstraße, reference to Suderquelle / -brunnen (originated from "sute, sutte", Middle High German for pool, puddle. Suder = dirty broth, mud, well that no longer gives perfect water )
