Khvostof Iceland ( aleutian : Atanax ) is an uninhabited island in the Rat Islands and is one of the Aleutian Islands . The island rises steeply from its western shore to a height of 256 m. The eastern part of the island is characterized by a relatively even plateau .

Khvostof is likely the remnant of a large volcanic cone that exploded in the Tertiary as a result of a huge eruption .
