Dawa ( Chinese  大洼 区 , Pinyin Dàwā Qū ) is a municipality in the northeast Chinese province of Liaoning . It is subordinate to the district-free city of Panjin and administers an area of ​​1816 km² and as of 2015 has a total population of around 400,000. Its main town is the large community of Dawa (大洼 镇).

The population census for 2000 showed a total population of 377,650 people in 113,140 households in what was then Dawa County (大洼县), of which 193,590 were men and 184,060 women.

Dawa was opened in 1988 as part of the reform and opening policy .
