Dawn of Tears ( German about dawn full of tears ) is a Spanish melodic death metal band from Madrid .

history

The idea of a band that mixes Melodic Death Metal "Gothenburg School" with aspects of classic Heavy Metal of the 1980s and modern subgenres of classic Death Metal matured in JL Trebol in 1999. However, the first activities did not start until 2001, with the Entry of the singer Jesús Alonso. In the course of the next year a band was formed and they initially played in the Madrid underground scene. A demo was also produced, but it was never published. In the following years, the band was able to gain some fame both nationally and throughout Europe with good results in band competitions and participation in various compilations. In 2004 the second demo, Echoes… , was finally recorded and released.

In the following years the work of the band stagnated and the continuation was not certain for a long time. After several line-up changes, the band was reformed and the recording of a first LP was planned. However, this was initially delayed due to a protracted illness of the drummer J. Sierra and the unexpected death of the producer. Ultimately, the first Descent album was released in 2007.

The album received very good reviews and even won the Metal Storm Award in the Best Melodic Death Metal Act category , which beat established groups like Dark Tranquility and Arch Enemy . As a result, Dawn of Tears toured in the opening act of well-known bands, u. a. Dimmu Borgir , Amon Amarth , Dark Tranquility, Moonsorrow , Cynic and Dew-Scented .

A new EP , Dark Chamber Litanies , was released in 2009 and received good reviews as well. Both albums are offered by the band for free on the Internet.

In August 2011 it was announced that Dawn of Tears would record a new album, which is expected to be released in early 2012. Like its predecessors, it will be produced by Carlos Seara (including Mägo de Oz and Sôber ) at Cube Studios and will contain nine titles. In addition, other line-up changes were announced: Bassist Konrad is no longer part of the band, as is Andrés Pérez, who is leaving for personal reasons. His place will be taken by J. Nieva, who has played guitar before and can be heard on the demo recordings Blood on Verona and Echoes ...

style

Dawn of Tears mainly play Melodic Death Metal, but it is heavily influenced by other metal genres such as Progressive , Power , and Heavy Metal and the already related Death , Dark and Black Metal . Often there are also orchestral parts arranged by JL Trebol . Comparable are z. B. In Flames , or Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir , whose music also features classical parts. The lyrics are mostly about fictional topics, but also about art and literature (e.g. Romeo and Juliet in the song Blood on Verona ) and are written by Trebol and Alonso alike.
