Daxi is a municipality in the southeast of the People's Republic of China . It is located in the southeast of the administrative area of the municipality of Yongding , which in turn is subordinate to the district-free city of Longyan of Fujian Province . The municipality of Daxi administers an area of 75.6 square kilometers with about 570 hectares of agricultural and 2900 hectares of forestry and a total population of 14133 people in 2015. The 2000 population census showed a total population of 9968 people in 2895 households, of whom 4993 men and 4975 women.
Daxi is divided into eight villages at village level : Daxi (大 溪村), Tailian (太 联 村), Kengtou (坑 头村), Huanglong (黄龙 村), Lianhe (联 和村), Santang (三 堂村), Juxi (莒溪 村), Hubei (湖 背 村). These include 80 village settlements.
The agriculture of Daxi lives mainly from the cultivation of tobacco, which is grown on more than 130 hectares, and of fruits such as persimmons , plums, Japanese loquat , poplar plums or mandarins . Daxi is the location of Tulou with exceptional UNESCO World Heritage properties and agricultural attractions such as Dongfu Shan Mountain or Dahu Dong Cave . It is the place of origin of the ancestors of around 42,000 overseas Chinese who live mainly in Indonesia .
