Daylight Again is a music album by the rock band Crosby, Stills and Nash .
history
Stephen Stills and Graham Nash began working on this album in 1980. It was originally intended to be a Stills and Nash project. For David Crosby , who was struggling with massive drug problems and therefore hardly able to work , they had provided the singers Art Garfunkel and Timothy B. Schmit . The record company Atlantic Records was only interested in releasing a Crosby, Stills & Nash album and so they asked David Crosby into the studio in 1982.
Crosby's participation on the album was very limited by his drug problems and the associated vocal weaknesses: Only one song, Delta , came from his pen. He recorded another track ( Might As Well Have A Good Time ) as lead singer, on all the others Stills and Nash sang alone or with Timothy B. Schmit. Art Garfunkel helped with Daylight Again .
The album Daylight Again was finally released in June 1982 in the USA and climbed to 8th place in the album charts. Three singles were released from the album. The most successful was Wasted on the Way , written by Graham Nash, which climbed to 9th place in the singles chart. Then came Stephen Stills' Southern Cross , which came to number 18. For the first time, the band released music videos . At MTV 1982 and 1983, the videos ran Wasted on the Way and Southern Cross . Both songs are now CSN classics, were released on various compilations (most recently on the album Greatest Hits in 2005 ) and are still played at concerts.
The album was followed by a tour that had to be partially interrupted by Crosby's fluctuating health. The 2007 album Live in LA and the DVD Daylight Again were released as concert documents of this tour . Some live recordings had already been released on Allies in 1983 .
In 1991 the band released a cover version of the Traffic classic Dear Mr. Fantasy on the 4-CD box CSN . Stills and Nash had recorded the piece, written by Steve Winwood , in 1980 while working on Daylight Again .
