Mike Finnigan
Michael Kelly "Mike" Finnigan (born April 26, 1945 in Troy , Ohio , † August 11, 2021 ) was an American singer and keyboard player . He was particularly fond of using the Hammond organ .
Live and act
Finnigan began working as a professional musician in Kansas in 1964. Then he moved to Wichita and started touring with the band The Serfs . During the band's trip to New York , Jimi Hendrix invited him to a session that found its way into his famous record Electric Ladyland .
In 1970 Jerry Hahn and his blues-jazz-rock band The Jerry Hahn Brotherhood with Mike Finnigan, Clyde Graves and George Marsh recorded the ten-track record of the same name, including seven by Lane Tietgen , including Captain Bobby Stout and Martha's Madmen . In 1971 he worked as a background singer on Ben Sidran's album The Cat and the Hat ; In 1972 Finnigan formed the band Finnigan and Wood . In 1975 he settled in Los Angeles and worked as a studio and tour musician for Crosby, Stills and Nash , Dave Mason , Etta James , Dr. John , Carlos Santana , Joe Cocker , The Manhattan Transfer, and Bonnie Raitt .
Since the early 2000s he has played regularly in The Phantom Blues Band with the musician Taj Mahal . In his later years he toured with Bonnie Raitt .
family
Mike Finnigan was married to Candy Finnigan , an addiction specialist, for over 40 years . The couple have two children, son Kelly and daughter Bridge.
