De bello Iugurthino isthe second historical monograph by Sallust after De coniuratione Catilinae . The work deals with the events of the war that Gaius Marius and Lucius Cornelius Sulla Felix 111-106 BC. Against the Numid king Jugurtha , and is around the year 40 BC. BC originated.

The main theme of the work is not so much the description of the Yugurthine War , but rather the demonstration of certain domestic political conditions in Rome. Above all, the contrast between the nobility and plebeians , the mischief of party struggles and civil wars are discussed.

At the end of his remarks, Sallust puts the thesis that the decline of the community is due to the power of the politicians.
