Dean "Deano" Downing (born January 24, 1975 in Rotherham ) is a British track and road cyclist .

Athletic career

Dean Downing won a stage at Ras Mumhan in 2004, where he was also third overall. In 2005 he drove for the Continental Team Recycling.co.uk , where he won a stage in the Bermuda Grand Prix. The next year he switched to DFL-Cyclingnews-Litespeed , where he was successful with the Trofee van Haspengouw. He was an amateur in the 2007 season and won two stages at the Bikeline Two Day, the Tour of the Reservoir, one stage at the Girvan Three Day and the Lincoln International Grand Prix. From 2008 to 2012 Downing rode again for the Rapha Condor-Recycling.co.uk cycling team .

On the track, Dean Downing was British champion at Madison in 2003 together with his younger brother Russell . In the points race , he finished third at the British championship in Manchester in 2004 and second in 2005. At the 2004 Track Cycling World Cup in Sydney , Downing took second place in the scratch .
