Death Bell - Fatal Final Exam! (Original title: Gosa: Piui Junggangosa ) is a South Korean horror film directed by Yoon Hong-seung , also known as Chang , from 2008 . It was the only South Korean horror film released in the summer of 2008 and reached more than 1.6 million viewers.

In July 2010 the successor Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp ran in South Korea's cinemas.

Twenty of the best students at Seoul's Chang-in School and three teachers gathered in the otherwise abandoned school building on a Saturday to hold a university prep course. A song suddenly sounds in the middle of class and the television in the classroom shows the best of the year tied up in a slowly filling water tank. An anonymous, ice-cold killer reports over the loudspeakers. He asks everyone a question, on the correct answer the life of this classmate depends. Anyone who tries to leave the school premises is killed on the spot. The protagonist Yi-na finds out that the students are killed according to the ranking in the top class list.

The film was shot in high definition . The budget was 1.3 billion South Korean won . Death Bell is the first film by Yoon Hong-seung , who previously made some music videos. The pop singer Nam Gyu-ri , who was still a member of the girl group SeeYa at the time of shooting, made her acting debut in Death Bell .

Death Bell premiered in July 2008 at the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival .

The film ran on August 6, 2008 in 366 South Korean cinemas and reached 575,231 visitors on the opening weekend.

The film was released in Germany on January 29, 2010 directly on DVD and Blu-Ray .
