Deborah Pratt

Deborah M. Pratt (born December 16, 1951 in Chicago , Illinois , USA ) is an American actress , screenwriter and television producer .

Life

Pratt grew up in Chicago. She attended Webster University in St. Louis , where she studied psychology and theater studies and graduated with a BA . She had her first television role in 1975 in the television series Make-Up and Pistols (English Policewoman ).

From 1984 to 1991 she was married to the television producer Donald Bellisario . As an actress, she became known in the 1980s and 1990s for the Bellisario-produced television series Airwolf , Magnum and Back to the Past . She co-produced the multi-award winning television series Back to the Past and wrote the scripts for several episodes of the series.

As a screenwriter, she was awarded the Lillian Gish Prize in the "Women In Film" category in 1990 for the episode "The Color of Truth" of the television series . Between 1990 and 1994, Pratt was nominated four times as producer of the series for the Emmy and the BEN Award and was honored once as a screenwriter ("Our Friend, Martin"; 1999). Her other awards include an Angel Award and the Golden Block Award.

She made her directorial debut in 1997 with the short film Girlfriends , written by her and produced with the American Film Institute (AFI) , in which John Anthony Williams played the leading role. The film won several national and international critic awards. In 2000 she directed the drama Cora Unashamed on the PBS television channel . The film appeared in the series The American Collection and was released on video in Germany in 2001.

Since 2006, Pratt has published a series of novels under the title "The Vision Quest" and an associated website that deal with spirituality and science fiction . According to the company, "The Vision Quest" is an "entertainment project that encompasses several platforms" that will later lead to a film adaptation. Pratt has been Managing Director of V Global Media (VGM) and Pratt Enterprises Inc. since 2001, through which she operates her books and the Internet portal “The Vision Quest”, among other things.

Deborah Pratt has two children together with her ex-husband Donald Bellisario : Nicholas Bellisario and the actress Troian Bellisario .
