Deer Park is a city in Hamilton County in the state of Ohio , United States .
The population is currently around 5736 (2010 census). Acting Mayor is Dave Collins. The city area covers only one square mile (2.2 km²). The name, the location of the deer (English Deer ), which here in large numbers attracted by the densely wooded area around the many rivers to drink.
history
Deer Park was first settled by immigrants around 1788. The community maintains the Chamberlin Park nature reserve . In 1886, settlers decided to found a settlement in the present tavern on Blue Ash Road. In 1892 they built the first church in town. Deer Park received village status in 1912, when it had 327 residents. The village grew only slowly at first, an administration building was not built until 24 years later and the citizens' meetings no longer took place in the tavern. Then the baby boom set in and Deer Park was promoted to town in 1952 as the population had now risen to over 7,000.
In the 1950s and 1960s, the spacious parks in the middle of the city, where many children spend their free time, stand out. The railway then divided the city into two parts, it was built exactly along the main road. The green avenues and parks have largely disappeared.
In 1969 a tornado caused great damage to trees and facilities, but humans were not harmed.
