Dehmke is a district of the borough Aerzen in the Hamelin-Pyrmont district in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

The place is about 7 km west of the district town of Hameln. The foothills of the Riepen extend north-east of the village , while the Oberdehmkerbach flows through the town from north to south .

history

Dehmke was first mentioned in the 14th century as Oberdehmke (Oberndimpke). This name is derived from the small brook Dehmke that flows through the place.

On January 1, 1973 Dehmke was incorporated into the Aerzen district.

politics

Local council

In 2011, the local council elected Dagmar Brackhahn as local mayor in a controversial election. Corinna Menze has been the local mayor since 2016.

Coat of arms

The local coat of arms consists of a silver background over a blue river of waves. On it is an undershot black millwheel on which an owl sits.

With a decree of October 6, 1933, the rural community of Dehmke was granted permission to use the coat of arms by the Prussian State Ministry.

Personalities

The heraldist and art historian Friedrich Warnecke was born on April 21, 1837 in Dehmke.
