Dehn is the family name of a German-Baltic noble family whose documentary evidence began in 1635 with Arnold Dehn and whose place of origin was given as Rostock . In addition to several people and other noble families of the same name, he is the progenitor of the German-Baltic noble family.

history

On October 25, 1635 Arnoldus Deene, Rostochiensis was enrolled in the University of Dorpat . In the Rostock University - matrikel from May 1, 1631 he will also run as Arnoldus Dehne, Rostochiensis. The families descended from Arnold Dehn carried the coat of arms shown above , which was also used in other coats of arms.

On January 23, 1657, an entry of Arnoldus Dehne (around 1610 - 1657), grain box clerk and church leader was made in the death register of St. Nikolai Church in Reval . This is the one who is documented as the proven progenitor of the von Dehn family in Estonia and Livonia.

Genealogical line

With Arnold Dehn the main tribe was founded in the Baltic States and continued in direct succession with Elias Dehn in a Livonian and an Estonian tribe. From these the houses Selliküll (I.), Emmomäggi (II.), Weltz (III.), Raggafer (IV.), Kickel (V.) and Kono (VI.) Were founded.

Livonia Line

The progenitor of the Livonian line is Elias Dehn (1719–1759), he was a merchant and member of the Great Guild. His father was Arnold Dehn (1671-1723), who was a senior man in the Great Guild in Reval . Elias's son was Eberhard Dehn (1753–1828), who was Rittmeister of the Blackheads and who was raised to the Russian nobility on January 19, 1789, they carried the nobility title “von” Dehn.
