Deimantas Narkevičius
Deimantas Narkevičius (* 1964 in Utena ) is a Lithuanian film director , conceptual artist and installation artist .
Life
After graduating from high school, Narkevičius graduated as a sculptor from the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts in Vilnius and spent 1992/93 in London.
A well-known video is Revisiting Solaris (2007, 18 min.) Based on the film Solaris by Andrei Tarkowski .
In 1998 Narkevičius participated in Manifesta II in Luxembourg. In 2001 he represented Lithuania at the 49th Venice Biennale with Legend Coming True (1999, 68 min.) And Energy Lithuania (2000, 17 min.). In 2002 the solo exhibition Deimantas Narkevičius Project took place at the Kunstverein Munich , and in 2007 a solo exhibition at the Kunsthalle Budapest . In 2007 Narkevičius was represented at the Skulptur.Projekte in Münster.
Deimantas Narkevičius was awarded the Lithuanian National Prize for Art and Culture and in 2008 received the Vincent van Gogh Biennial Award for Contemporary Art in Europe in Amsterdam.
