Bamberdele "Dele" Adebola (born June 23, 1975 in Lagos ) is a Nigerian football player who has been under contract with Rochdale AFC since 2012 .

Athletic career

Bamberdele "Dele" Adebola moved to England with his parents when he was a child . He grew up in Liverpool and moved to Crewe Alexandra in his youth .

In the 1992/93 season he started his professional career in the fourth highest English division. The following season Adebola moved to Wales and spent the season on loan at Bangor City . The following two years were rather inconspicuous, but in the 1996/97 season he completed a very good season and made it to the Football League One with Crewe . He scored 16 goals that year, making a significant contribution to this successful series.

Already in the course of the coming season Adebola moved to Birmingham City in February 1998 for around £ 1,000,000 . The team also played in the second highest English league, but had a significantly higher potential than his previous club. In the 1998/99 season he scored a total of 13 goals of the season and was one of the most accurate players in the club. The coming season was all the more disappointing in which Adebola could hardly bring its accuracy to the fore. The year 1999/2000 was not very satisfactory and in the following season he injured himself in addition, so that in early 2002 he was loaned to Oldham Athletic to collect match practice. His expiring contract in Birmingham was not renewed.

At his new club Crystal Palace he was able to quickly play his way into the starting line-up and scored 5 goals in 39 games. For the 2003/04 season he moved to Coventry City . Due to a lack of match practice, he spent 2004 on loan at Burnley FC and Bradford City .

For the 2004/05 season he returned to Coventry and completed a successful season alongside storm partners such as Stern John and Gary McSheffrey . In the coming year Adebola finally found its way back on track and scored 12 goals in 44 games. In 2006/07 there were 8 goals in 40 games. After that, things weren't so successful for him for a long time and he therefore decided to move to Bristol City in February 2008 , where he spent the next 18 months. Especially in the second season he found his strength back.

At the end of June 2009 he signed a 2-year contract with Nottingham Forest and changed clubs again. In his first season in the Football League Championship 2009/10 he was used in 33 games and was able to score his first goal on matchday 3 in a 4-2 away win at Watford FC . After another season at Forest, Adebola signed a one-year contract with Hull City on June 29, 2011 .
