Live and act

Together with his father and brother Louis Jaques, Denis Defforey decided in December 1959 to enter into a partnership with Marcel Fournier. The aim was to compete with Edouard Leclerc and his company. In a first self-service shop in Annecy , the reasons offered haberdashery and groceries at the same time. The rapid success led to space problems and an early expansion at a new location. Denis Defforey then further developed the concept of offering everything under one roof, which was first implemented in 1963 in the first hypermarket in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois (Essonne) .

From 1985 to 1990 Denis Defforey led the company as CEO . After reaching the age limit, he left the group management and was a member of the supervisory board until 1995.
