Denis Lambin
Denis Lambin , Latin Dionysius Lambinus (* 1520 in Montreuil in Picardy , † September 29, 1572 in Paris ) was a French humanist , philologist and scholar .
Life
Lambin studied in Amiens and later in Italy , in 1560 he became professor of Latin and Greek at the Collège de France in Paris. A year later he was offered a chair. Lambin was friends with Petrus Ramus , who was murdered on St. Bartholomew's Night, and feared the same fate, and died of this shock. Lambin became famous with his Latin classic editions: Horace (1561), Titus Lucretius Carus (1564) and the complete works of Marcus Tullius Cicero (1566). His Plautus Commentaries (1576) were also very much appreciated.
