Denis Nowell Pritt

Denis Nowell Pritt (born September 22, 1887 Harlesden ( Middlesex ), † May 23, 1972 Barn End, Basingstoke ( Hampshire )) was a British lawyer and politician. He had been a member of the Labor Party since 1918 . In 1927 he Attorney ( King's Counsel ). From 1935 to 1940 he was a member of parliament for the Labor Party.

Pritt was established in 1940 because of the endorsement of the invasion of the Red Army in Finland expelled from the party and was from 1940 to 1950 party-less member of parliament.

In 1933, Pritt was chairman of the “International Commission of Inquiry into the Reichstag Fire ”, the so-called “London Counter-Trial” to the Leipzig Reichstag Fire Trial .

Pritt received the International Stalin Peace Prize in 1954 and was made an honorary citizen of the city of Leipzig in 1957 . In 1965 he was honored with the Star of Friendship of Nations in gold.
