Monument technical assistant

Monument Technical Assistant (short- DTA ) is an apprenticeship in Germany, with the historic preservation of hopeless buildings busy. tasks

Through the training to become a monument technology assistant, the graduates acquire a significantly higher level of competence in the field of monument conservation and building renovation measures than is possible with the dual vocational training in the classic construction engineering professions. This opens up a wide range of application areas for the assistant.

Since DTAs take on detailed work in practice in the preparation and implementation of restoration work , they support and relieve monument conservationists, engineers , architects and craftsmen. Work results are evaluated and logged by them, statistics and tables for work execution are created and workshop drawings and graphic representations of work processes are made. You take on computational and organizational tasks for tenders and accounting for construction projects. The assistants are just as familiar with electronic data acquisition and evaluation as well as the use of job-related computer programs , as they are with the issues of preparatory work safety .

Duration and content of training

The prerequisite for starting the training is an intermediate vocational qualification or a school qualification recognized as equivalent or higher. The duration of an apprenticeship is two or three years, depending on the location and structure.

Interdisciplinary subjects: German, mathematics, English, physics, chemistry, economics and social studies, history of religion, sport.

Job-related content: analysis, building history, building chemistry, building physics, building technology, documentation technology, technical mathematics.

The theoretical subjects are supported and intensified with internships. The following fields belong to the practical training:

  1. Building materials, working materials, work techniques
  2. Surveying technology, construction survey, documentation
  3. Construction inspection, damage analysis and documentation
  4. Project planning of renovation, usage and financing concepts

graduation

At the end of the training, an examination with the character of a state examination must be successfully passed. This final examination itself can consist of oral, written and practical parts and is carried out in accordance with state law. Upon completion, in accordance with the regulations of the state, the advanced technical college entrance qualification can be acquired in addition to the "state-certified monument technology assistant" .
