Dennis C. Lewiston , also known as Denis Lewiston (born May 22, 1934 in London , United Kingdom ; † June 8, 2014 ) was a British cameraman with sporadic excursions into directing.

Live and act

Lewiston left school very early and began his cinematic career at the age of 15 as a material assistant (so-called clapper loader ) for the Hitchcock - Dietrich crime thriller Die Rote Lola . Throughout the 1950s, he also worked in this role as a camera assistant for a large number of entertainment films. Since 1960 Lewiston was allowed to take pictures as a simple cameraman for television and cinema. In this role, Dennis Lewiston was also involved in the classic films Doctor Zhivago , Blow Up and The Rocky Horror Picture Show .

Lewiston has been a chief cameraman since 1974. While in this position he initially photographed British cinema films, by the beginning of the 1980s Lewiston was almost exclusively responsible for television films, the majority of which were made in the USA . Dennis C. Lewiston has also worked sporadically as a director; For example, in 1979/80 he directed several episodes of the television crime series Die Profis and two little-noticed films in the 1980s and 1990s, respectively. Shortly before the turn of the millennium, right after his last film director, Lewiston finished his work behind the camera.
