Dennis Lajola (born February 12, 1989 in the Philippines ) is a retired American tennis player .

Career

Lajola was born in the Philippines and raised in Hawaii . He lives in ʻAiea , Honolulu .

He went to the University of Hawaii . As the first athlete from there, he won the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year Award in 2011 in tennis. He was also on the Western Conference All-Star Team for four years.

He played his first professional tennis tournament in 2005 in Waikoloa at a tournament on the ITF Future Tour . Two years later he won a match for the first time and a little later his first and only title, with which he achieved the first points for the world rankings and rose to 748th place. Lajola played the first tournament in the ATP Challenger Tour category in 2010 in Honolulu , where he was eliminated in the round of 16. In 2012 he made his debut on the ATP World Tour at the SAP Open 2012 in San José . After surviving the qualification, in which he defeated Rajeev Ram , among others , he lost in the opening round of the main draw against Dimitar Kutrowski , another qualifier, just 7: 6, 3: 6, 6: 7. The year was the most successful of his career, he achieved his highest ranking, the 535th place, and finished the year at 632th place. In the following years he could not qualify for Challengers or ATP World tournaments and lost ground in the world rankings. He played his last tournament in March 2013.
