Dimitar Kutrowski ( Bulgarian Димитър Кутровски ; born August 27, 1987 in Sofia ) is a former Bulgarian tennis player .

Career

Since 2010, Kutrowski has won several titles in future tournaments. While he could not achieve any major success on the second-rate Challenger Tour , he managed a surprise on the ATP World Tour in February 2012 in San José : First, he qualified for the first time for the main draw of a World Tour event. On his debut, he won his first two games against the Americans Dennis Lajola and Blake Strode , also due to a lucky draw . Only in the quarterfinals did he lose to Ryan Harrison in straight sets. In May 2012, however , the ATP announced that Kutrowski had found the banned substance methylhexanamine , which he said he had consumed through the Jack3D dietary supplement . Kutrowski was then banned for two years. He had to repay all the prize money he had won since February 2012, and all of the world ranking points he had gained since then were stripped of him. An appeal by Kutrowski to the CAS was partially granted, so that the period of suspension was reduced to 15 months. After the suspension expired in May 2013, Kutrowski took part in the first future tournaments again, and in September he played a Challenger in Napa for the first time . In the following years he was able to win a few matches on the Challenger level and managed to achieve a new top position in the tennis world rankings in singles and doubles - 293 in singles, 234 in doubles. He played his last tournament at the Challenger in Charlottesvilles .

In 2016, he announced his resignation on his Facebook page after taking a job at the University of Texas at San Antonio as a tennis coach.

Davis Cup

Kutrowski was appointed to the Bulgarian Davis Cup team for the first time in 2011 and played the games against Belarus and Cyprus . He was able to win two out of four individual games, while he suffered a defeat in his only appearance in doubles. In 2015 he played in the Davis Cup for the last time: he won two matches against Luxembourg and lost one against Hungary . His overall record was 8: 6.
