Blake Strode (born July 9, 1987 in St. Louis ) is a retired American tennis player .

Career

In his teens, he attended Pattonville High School , Missouri , where he became a high school champion. Later he also took part in the college championships , but where he could not celebrate any major success.

Since 2008 he has occasionally taken part in tournaments of the ITF Future Tour , where he reached the semi-finals in July, which earned him the first points for the world rankings . A year later he won a title in singles and doubles and reached another final, which brought him up to 554th place in the ranking. In 2010 he took part in the qualification of a Grand Slam tournament in New York for the first time, but lost there in the second round to Ivan Dodig . He also took part in a Challenger tournament in Tulsa for the first time. In 2011 he took part in Challengers more often, but never got past a quarter-finals. In addition, he again won a future title in singles and doubles.

In 2012 he made his only appearance on the ATP World Tour at the SAP Open in San José . Although he lost to Denis Kudla in qualifying , he was allowed to start as a lucky loser in the main draw, where he lost to Dimitar Kutrowski in two sets. He also reached the semi-finals of the Challenger in Savannah and a final in a future tournament that year. That year he also achieved his highest ranking, a 311st place in singles and 571st place in doubles. He played his last professional match in August 2013. Since then he has been listed as inactive by the ATP .
