Dennis Palmer

Dennis James Palmer (born October 13, 1957 in Chattanooga , Tennessee , † February 16, 2013 ibid) was an American jazz and improvisation musician ( synthesizer and live electronics).

Palmer formed the improvisation duo The Shaking Ray Levis with Bob Stagner in 1986 , with whom he recorded two albums for the British Incus Records label in the 1990s (once expanded to a quartet with Steve Beresford and Roger Turner ). In a duo with Stagner he worked a. a. with Derek Bailey ( Live at Lamar's ), Eugene Chadbourne , Tom Cora , Fred Frith , Tony Oxley , Gino Robair , John Zorn and Shelley Hirsch . Palmer also recorded in a trio with Amy Denio and Derek Bailey. Palmer was also active as a visual artist and founded the non-profit organization Shaking Ray Levi Society with Stagner in Chattanooga, Tennessee
