Dennis Prager (2016)

Dennis Prager (born August 2, 1948 in New York City ) is an American radio talk master, journalist, author and speaker. He is known for his conservative, right-wing populist political views and for his criticism of secularization in the twentieth century.

He moderates a US radio show at the Salem Media Group in which he explains his theses.

Life

He grew up an Orthodox Jew and graduated in 1970. In 1969 he spent a year at the University of Leeds in England . After his Russian studies he traveled to the Soviet Union to Judaica save, and met Jewish dissidents . After his return he started his career as a speaker with lectures about the Jews in the Soviet Union. In 1972 he broke off his studies and wrote instead an introduction to Judaism ("The Nine Questions People Ask About Judaism" - The nine questions people have about Judaism). This book has been translated into several languages. He has been a radio presenter since 1982.

In 1980 Prager met his first wife, Janice Adelstein, who was a nurse. They married in 1981 and had a son two years later. In 1986 she filed for divorce. In 1988 Prager married actress Francine Stone in a synagogue in Los Angeles. The couple adopted a son in 1992. In 2005, during his radio show, Prager announced that he and Stone were getting a divorce. At the end of 2008, Prague married Susan Reed.

In 2009, Prager founded a social media channel called “ Prager University ”. It is not a university or similar institution. Prager is a staunch defender of Israel and Judaism.
