Controversy

During the 1990s, Denny's was involved in a number of court cases for discrimination. Employees had refused to serve minority groups, especially African-Americans , or served them poorly. Upon completion of a class action proceedings by a comparison in the amount of 54.4 million US dollars started Denny's an industry-acclaimed awareness program for all employees. The company's public relations work was also improved and now featured more African Americans in its commercials. In 2001, Denny's was named Best Company for Minorities by Fortune Magazine and has consistently been on the list since then. As a result, Denny's has continued to take steps to ensure that its guests are treated equally.
