Deoghar is a city in the Indian state of Jharkhand .

The city of Deoghar is located in the northeast of Jharkhand a few kilometers north of the Mayurakshi river at an altitude of 252  m . It forms the administrative center of the district of the same name . Deoghar has as a city since June 26, 2010 the status of a municipal corporation . The then municipality Deoghar was merged with the Notified Area Committee Jasidih. Deoghar is divided into 35 wards . At the 2011 census, Deoghar had around 203,000 inhabitants.
