Březí depot (Kamenný Újezd)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Březí Depot (also known as the Březí hoard ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Březí , a district of Kamenný Újezd in Jihočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates to between 1800 and 1600 BC. The preserved items from the depot are now in the South Bohemian Museum in Budweis .

Find history

The depot was discovered in 1928 while plowing northwest of Březí. The site is near the bank of the Vltava in a bend in the river.

composition

Originally the depot probably consisted of five bronze objects : two bars , a fragment of a sickle , a bent needle and a disk-shaped spiral. Ceramic shards were also found. It is possible that the depot was originally placed in a container. Of all these finds, only the two bars made it to the museum in Budweis.
