Body urgently wanted is a German television film by Walter Bannert from 1997 based on a screenplay by Franz-Xaver Wendleder . It is the 11th episode of the crime series Der Bulle von Tölz with Ottfried Fischer as the main actor in the role of Chief Inspector Benno Berghammer. It was first broadcast on March 23, 1997 on Sat.1 .

action

The accountant Peter Köstner is hit by a stolen Mercedes in front of his apartment and is fatally injured. The commissioners Benno Berghammer and Sabrina Lorenz discover that the victim's apartment has been ransacked. His partner Gitti says that she wanted to travel to the Caribbean with him the next day. When looking through the luggage, a suitcase with counterfeit money of one million marks turns up, for which Gitti has no explanation.

The further investigations show that Köstner had his last day at the building contractor Richard Budera the day before, and that he blackmailed his employer and three other contractors who obtained financial advantages through illegal price fixing, including Mayor Franz Wegener. Because Richard Budera is bankrupt, he did not contribute his share of the hush money, but instead pocketed the 750,000 marks from the other building contractors and replaced them with one million marks for counterfeit money. When Berghammer and Lorenz want to arrest him, Budera has disappeared. His wife Julia is very worried and asks Berghammer for help. Richard Budera's car is found near the apartment of his secretary Ilona Meckle, with whom he had a relationship. Since several letters were found in his office in which he wanted to break up with her, Meckle comes under suspicion of having something to do with his disappearance.

When Benno Berghammer found the real 750,000 marks in Budera's garage, it was clear that the building contractor did not go underground voluntarily, especially since there were no missing personal items. Therefore, from now on, his body will be searched for.

The forensics department finds Budera's blood in the trunk of Ilona Meckle's car, as well as a receipt from the waste incineration plant, which bears the date of the day after Budera's disappearance. Ms. Meckle is arrested, but denies everything despite convincing evidence.

Benno Berghammer's mother Resi happens to meet Julia Budera in a café, from whom she learns that her husband has taken out a life insurance policy worth over five million marks, which is only paid out if he is declared dead. That gives the case the decisive turning point. The commissioners are now sure that the Buderas are in cahoots and that Ilona Meckle has put the "evidence" under. According to the caretaker, Ms. Budera drove to the airport, but there is no ticket in her name. Benno Berghammer remembers that Richard Budera told him during an interview that he was about to get his pilot's license. The commissioners can barely prevent the start and arrest Richard Budera for murdering Peter Köstner and pretending to be a criminal, his wife for aiding and abetting.

Mayor Wegener gets away with impunity because of his unrestricted cooperation with the police and public prosecutor, and his share of the hush money is not confiscated. Commissioner Berghammer finally convinced him to provide the money to the next generation of ice hockey players.
