action

The policeman Nikolai Andreassen lives and works in Oslo, nothing is more important to him than his adherence to principles, in addition to justice, he has above all resolved not to mix professional and private life.

After his testimony in the context of a trial against a colleague ensures that an Oslo mafia boss is released from custody, that he also does not remain true to his own principles and that he comes much closer to the key witness Kristoffer Lund than his own principles allow, and he too his colleagues are no longer welcome, he decides to go to his brother's family to the Norwegian-Swedish border and go on vacation. A suicide caused a stir there, but Andreassen suspects murder and interferes in the investigation. After it became more and more clear that his brother and his father had something to do with the matter, Andreassen was confronted with an internal moral dilemma.

critic

The Tagesspiegel describes the script as conclusive and the staging as artistic, without any gimmicky. In addition, she writes in the diffuse twilight of the barren winter forest all around, the characters develop a depth.

Kathrin Hollmer describes Der Grenzgänger in the Süddeutsche Zeitung as a unique mixture of family drama and Nordic noir crime thriller. She highlights the landscape shots, which she describes as threatening and gloomy, and is enthusiastic that the clues about the case are subtly interspersed, which makes the series more impressive than classic Nordic television thrillers. She cannot understand the praise from abroad for the main gay character, as this is not addressed enough for her.

Solid, but not exceptional, is Felix Reek's conclusion in GQ magazine . The mini-series doesn't dare enough, it lacks that certain something.
