Der Gruselbus (in the DVD release Die eheimliche Klassenfahrt ) is a Dutch children's horror film from 2005. Directed by Pieter Kuijpers . The script is based on the book De Griezelbus by Paul van Loon .
action
Onnoval is an imaginative boy who loves writing stories. He is in love with his school friend Liselore. When he sees Liselore kissing his arch rival Gino, he seeks revenge. When the writer Nol van Paul gives a reading in Onnoval's school and talks about the mysterious Ferluci, Onnoval contacts him. He signs a contract with Ferluci. Onnoval comes up with a story about a school trip that will end badly for Gino. Ferluci should make this story a truth. Then Onnoval notices that Liselore only kissed Gino to protect him from Gino's rabble. Now Onnoval has to act and snatch his manuscript from the evil Ferluci and his helper Vlapono and rewrite the end.
Names
Some of the names of the protagonists are anagrams . Ferluci refers to Lucifer , his helper Vlapono is an anagram of Onnoval, which in turn is an anagram of "van Loon" and thus, just like the writer Nol van Paulo in the film, a reference to the Author of the books, Paul van Loon .
Awards
Peter Kuijpers received an award for his film in 2006 at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival and in 2007 at the Leeds Young People's Film Festival .
